Photogrammetry in Oral Rehabilitation: A Bibliometric and Altmetric Analysis of Historical Development, Current Applications, and Future Research Trends
The present study addresses photogrammetric image acquisition techniques and their validation within the context of oral rehabilitation. Photogrammetry, as a non-invasive and highly precise method for generating three-dimensional digital models from two-dimensional photographic images, has become a promising tool in dental practice. Its application in oral rehabilitation encompasses various stages, including the virtual planning of prosthetic treatments, the precise positioning of dental implants, and the capture of dental morphology and edentulous arches. Additionally, photogrammetry enables the integration of extraoral and intraoral data, enhancing the accuracy of digital workflows and reducing the need for conventional physical impressions. The validation of these techniques, regarding accuracy, precision, reproducibility, and clinical applicability is essential to ensure their reliability and effectiveness in prosthodontic protocols.
