DIGITALIZED FRAUD MITIGATION AT MAS KREEDA[TN]
Research Project Title: Digitalized Fraud Mitigation at MAS Kreeda: A Strategic Approach to Risk Management in a Global Manufacturing Context Purpose of the Research: The purpose of this research is to analyze and evaluate how MAS Kreeda, a prominent division of MAS Holdings and a manufacturing partner for global brands like Nike, has strategically implemented digital tools and control systems to mitigate fraud in its operations. In light of growing complexities in global manufacturing and the increased vulnerability to financial misconduct, this study seeks to understand how digital transformation—particularly the use of ERP systems like SAP—can support robust internal controls and create a culture of accountability and transparency. The research also aims to highlight the balance between technological solutions and human oversight, with a focus on how digitalization complements governance structures and ethical frameworks to combat fraud across critical functions such as procurement, payroll, and insurance claims. Objectives: This study is designed to fulfill the following objectives: To explore MAS Kreeda’s digitalization strategy and how technologies such as SAP are used to enhance fraud detection, real-time monitoring, and access control. To examine the role of the Group Risk and Controlling (GRC) team in developing a sustainable fraud mitigation framework through digital tools, internal audits, and the application of analytical models (e.g., Beneish M-Score). To identify high-risk areas within the company (procurement, payroll, insurance) and map the corresponding red flags and controls. To evaluate MAS Kreeda’s fraud control mechanisms across manual, system, and process-based domains. To assess the impact of digital transformation on organizational culture, employee behavior, and risk governance. To derive best practices and provide strategic recommendations for organizations seeking to build resilient, tech-enabled anti-fraud systems. Methodology: The research follows a qualitative case study approach using teaching notes, internal control frameworks, fraud theory (particularly the Fraud Diamond Theory), and applied models like the Beneish M-Score. Analysis will focus on synthesizing technological applications, governance initiatives, and behavioral insights to form a holistic view of fraud mitigation in a digital environment. Expected Outcomes: A comprehensive overview of MAS Kreeda’s digital fraud mitigation ecosystem, including policy-level, technical, and procedural dimensions. Identification of key vulnerabilities in procurement, payroll, and insurance processes, along with tailored control mechanisms. A demonstration of how ERP systems (SAP) and digital audits enhance visibility, control, and fraud detection in a manufacturing context. Insights into how GRC teams integrate governance and technology to support financial reporting integrity and risk reduction. Development of a fraud mitigation framework adaptable to other manufacturing and multinational enterprises. Recommendations for improving whistleblowing systems, increasing automation, and enhancing organizational fraud awareness through employee training and proactive risk assessments. Significance of the Study: This research is significant for practitioners and academics in the fields of forensic accounting, digital risk management, and internal audit. It provides a real-world example of how a large, multinational manufacturing organization can effectively use digital transformation not just for operational gains, but as a foundational strategy to enhance ethical governance and financial resilience. The lessons from MAS Kreeda’s experience are broadly applicable across industries that face complex internal and external fraud risks.
