INTERNET-BASED COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY IN ALLEVIATING POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY META-ANALYSIS
Postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety are common mental health issues among new mothers, often worsened by limited access to care and social stigma. This meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (iCBT) using six randomized controlled trials published from 2019 to 2025. Results showed a modest but significant reduction in depression symptoms (d = -0.394, p < 0.05), while effects on anxiety were minimal. Despite study variability and limited geographic diversity, findings support iCBT as an accessible alternative to traditional therapy. Further research is needed to improve consistency, assess long-term outcomes, and enhance cultural relevance.
