Family matters in grief: Examining parent-child transmission of grief in daily life using ecological momentary assessment (EMA)

‘Family Matters in Grief' is a longitudinal cohort study employing ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to study the transmission of grief within families (parent-child dyads). With the aim to recruit N = 150 families, 4x/day EMA over 28 days is used to examine grief and related experiences in daily life. This data will be used to examine how grief may reciprocally transmit within families (i.e., how parental grief impacts child grief, and vice versa), as well as which factors may explain this transmission (i.e., whether engaging or experiencing certain grief-related behaviours and cognitions, such as avoidance or rumination, facilitate the transmission of grief from parent to child, and vice versa).
