Between borders and smiles: a scoping review on oral health and social determinants among refugees worldwide
This scoping review aims to map the main oral health problems and social determinants affecting refugee populations globally. Based on an analysis of the scientific literature, the aim is to identify the most prevalent oral conditions, the barriers faced in accessing dental services and the socio-environmental factors involved. The study follows the methodology proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines, with the aim of synthesizing the available knowledge, pointing out research gaps and contributing to the development of public policies aimed at oral health equity for refugees and asylum seekers.
