Recombinant Culicoides allergen immunotherapy in horses with insect bite hypersensitivity

This double-blind, placebo-controlled study aims to investigate the treatment of Culicoides hypersensitivity using recombinant Culicoides allergens.Culicoides hypersensitivity is one of the most common skin diseases in horses and is associated with a significant reduction in the quality of life of affected animals. Currently, there is no targeted treatment available for this condition. However, immunotherapy using recombinant Culicoides allergens has already shown promising results. We hypothesize that the administration of recombinant Culicoides allergens will lead to a significant reduction in the clinical symptoms of summer eczema. Furthermore, we expect that the therapy will elicit a specific IgG response.
