Topology of Value - A Unified Theory of Rational Choice Across Domains
This paper introduces the Hallgren Unified Valuation Theory (HUVT), a new foundation for decision theory that replaces scalar utility with a structured, multidimensional value framework. HUVT models rational choice as navigation through a value topology composed of six modular components: Benefit, Opportunity, Strategy, Environment, Cost, and Opportunity Cost (BOSECOC). By restoring structure to valuation space, HUVT resolves core dilemmas in economics, game theory, and collective action—such as the Prisoner’s Dilemma, the Tragedy of the Commons, and arms race escalation—without requiring behavioral reinterpretations or modifications. The framework has broad applications across economics, AI alignment, strategic planning, political theory, and institutional design. This release includes the foundational derivation, formal theorems, and applied case studies that demonstrate HUVT’s potential as a unifying decision model across disciplines.
