Diabetes and its Risk Factors in Brazil: Diagnosis of the Impact on Health Services in the Western Region of Santa Catarina

The scoping review will be based on the items from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols – extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The eligibility criterion will be the inclusion of original studies that address the prevalence of diabetic foot in Brazil and its complications obtained from electronic databases (Pubmed, Lilacs, Scielo and Web of Science), without language limitations and from the last 10 years of publication. The search will follow the PCC strategy (population, concept and context), applying the search equation: diabetic foot AND prevalence AND Brazil. Selection, screening and data extraction will be carried out independently by two authors. The synthesis of results followed the Joanna Briggs Institute framework for extracting results in scoping reviews. Therefore, it is expected that this scoping review protocol will be a clear and reproducible procedure, capable of structuring research on the topic and identifying existing gaps. It is expected, therefore, that this scoping review protocol will be a clear and reproducible process, capable of to guide research on the topic and point out gaps that still exist.
