Implementation strategies used in hospital settings when introducing evidence-based practices performed by nurses: Scoping review
The use of implementation strategies is effective for improving the adoption, implementation, and sustainability of evidence-based practices (EBPs). In clinical settings, however, the selection of appropriate strategies tailored to the specific EBP and its context remains a challenge, particularly for nurses implementing EBPs within hospital environments. Implementation success is influenced not only by the characteristics of the EBP and individual healthcare providers but also significantly by organizational and contextual factors. Although interest in organizational implementation strategies has increased, there is limited knowledge regarding strategies that specifically facilitate the implementation of EBPs involving nurses. This study aims to systematically identify and map the implementation strategies and implementation outcomes used in hospitals for EBPs implemented by nurses or involving nurses in their practice. By focusing on the hospital as the organizational context, we seek to clarify which strategies are being applied, how they are evaluated, and how they are tailored to the specific contexts of nursing practice. Identifying and mapping these strategies and outcomes will provide practical insights for hospital EBP coordinators, administrators, and other stakeholders, supporting more appropriate strategy selection and promoting the effective implementation and routinization of EBPs among nursing staff.
