Files to support: "The Effect of Different Pointing Gestures on Infants' Visual attention and Fast Mapping during Shared Picture-Book Reading
This project involves a preferential-looking task with 13-15-month-old infants which tested their understanding of different pointing gestures produce while labelling pictures of objects in a book. We investigated whether infants in this age group interpret pointing gestures (index-finger pointing, thumb pointing, no gesture) as cues for which object was being labelled in an experiment. Infants' visual attention and fast mapping was measured with an eye-tracker.
