Scoping review protocol: Extracellular vesicles as potential biomarkers in studies of genotoxicity, mutagenicity, or genetic damage response

This project aims to conduct a scoping review to map and synthesize the available scientific evidence on the use of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as potential biomarkers in studies of genotoxicity, mutagenicity, or genetic damage response. The review will be conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology and reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The protocol outlines the research question based on the PCC framework (Population, Concept, Context), as well as the eligibility criteria, information sources, search strategies, and the planned process for study selection, data extraction, and data synthesis. Registering this protocol seeks to ensure methodological transparency, minimize the risk of bias, and promote reproducibility in the evidence mapping process. The results of this review are expected to contribute to future research and regulatory discussions focused on the development and application of new approach methodologies (NAMs) and emerging biomarkers in the field of genetic toxicology
