Mapping the evidence on anaemia across trimesters of pregnancy and risk of adverse birth outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa: A scoping review protocol
This project is a scoping review that explores the literature regarding the associations of anaemia in the three trimesters of pregnancy with adverse birth outcomes (ABOs) among women of reproductive age in sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to provide an overview of the types or kinds of anaemia or micronutrient deficiencies associations with ABOs, rates of anaemia in each trimester of pregnancy, types of ABOs, types of settings, targeted intervention and gaps for future research. Therefore, the findings of the present scoping review will create a significant avenue for researchers to increasingly focus on this subject matter, guide future research and develop appropriate strategic interventions for anaemia and/or ABOs in the SSA countries, especially Ghana.
