The Social Constructive Logic of Depression Issues among Contemporary Youth

From the perspective of modern social theory, the researcher systematically explores the sociocultural factors behind the issue of depression among contemporary youth. The article highlights that contemporary youth in an individualized society are compelled to assume responsibility for their personal problems, with depression emerging as a typical manifestation of the emotional crisis in such contexts. The accelerated pace of society has significantly altered the lifestyles of contemporary youth, with meritocracy dominating their values. Consumer culture, through the emotionalization of commodities and the commodification of emotions, exacerbates the crisis of self-identity among contemporary youth. In summary, as the negative impact of sociocultural factors accumulates on the psychological level, depression ultimately becomes a structural feeling that contemporary youth use to cope with social risks and structural pressures.
