“Do it right: be safer!” - Linee guida per la conduzione del gioco

This article presents a guide for conducting the serious game “Do it right: be safer!” on-line since 2018, an educational tool designed to raise awareness among citizens and secondary school students about reducing the seismic vulnerability of Non-Structural Elements (NSE) of buildings. Developed as part of the KnowRISK (Know your city, Reduce seISmic risK through non-structural elements) project funded by the European Commission, the game focuses on building contents, such as furniture, which are NSE and can cause significant damage or injury during earthquakes. The article provides detailed instructions for facilitators and moderators on how to lead the game, which is based on four key actions: Move, Protect, Secure, and Adapt. These actions teach participants practical ways to mitigate risk associated with seismic vulnerabilities of NSE. Through interactive gameplay, participants learn to identify and reduce vulnerabilities in both home and work environments. The ultimate goal is to empower participants, particularly students, to recognize and actively take measures to mitigate seismic risk, thereby enhancing community resilience and awareness on seismic safety.
