Implicit and explicit categorization processes in clinical psychology
This dissertation examines implicit and explicit categorisation processes in clinical psychology with the aim of improving diagnostic accuracy. The first part emphasises the importance of structured diagnostic interviews and focuses on promoting skills in the use of these evidence-based methods. The second part identifies optimal cut-points for categorising dimensional questionnaire measures, highlighting the relevance of culturally sensitive instruments. The third part examines prototypical features of mental disorders, identifies potential perceptual biases and emphasises the importance of structured diagnostic procedures.
