Advancing Automotive\nDisplays: Liquid Crystal Cells\nfor Precision Viewing Angle Adjustment

This study introduces a switchable privacy mode (SPM)\ndevice utilizing\nhomogeneous alignment cells to control the viewing angle of display\npanels. The SPM device offers a versatile solution for managing the\nviewing angle in a range of display technologies, including liquid\ncrystal displays, organic light-emitting diodes, and micro-LEDs. By\nemploying two liquid crystal (LC) layers with different properties,\nthe SPM device can effectively switch between privacy and public modes,\nproviding users with the ability to control the visibility of their\ndisplay content as needed. The proposed SPM device overcomes the limitations\nof previous technologies by leveraging the complementary effect between\ntwo LC layers, resulting in excellent viewing angle characteristics\nin both privacy and public modes. The development of the SPM device\nrepresents a significant step forward in display technology, offering\nusers a valuable tool for enhancing privacy and security while maintaining\nthe functionality and user experience of their display devices.
