Dual-Responsive\nPIL Films with Gold Nanoparticles:\nTailoring Electrical Responses to pH and Thermal Stimuli

In recent years,\nstimuli-responsive poly(ionic liquids) (PILs)\nhave attracted great attention. The stimuli-dependent properties,\nparticularly the electrical properties, of multiresponsive PILs incorporating\nfunctionalized nanoparticles, however, have been less investigated.\nIn this work, we present the synthesis, characterization, and application\nof PIL films incorporating pH- and thermoresponsive hybrid materials\ncomposed of gold nanoparticles functionalized with poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl\nmethacrylate) (Au@PDMAEMA). The Au@PDMAEMA nanoparticles exhibit distinct\nresponsiveness to changes in environmental pH and temperature, thereby\naltering the electrical properties of the PIL films blended with responsive\ngold nanoparticles (PIL w/Au). This research not only fills a gap\nin the study of electrical properties of multiresponsive nanoparticle-incorporated\nPILs but also extends the potential applications of PILs in various\nfields, including smart sensors and electronic devices.
