Processable Coordination\nPolymer Inks for Highly Conductive\nand Robust Coatings
The unique properties and processability of conducting\nand semiconducting\norganic materials have fascinated scientists since their discovery.\nOf this broad class of materials, conductive coordination polymers\nare of immense recent interest due to their innate modularity and\ntunability. However, these materials are typically generated as powders\nand, in some cases, single crystals which significantly limits possible\nprocessing and many applications. Herein, we report a method that\nenables solution-phase processing of a previously reported highly\nconductive coordination polymer, NiTTFtt (TTFtt = tetrathiafulvalenetetrathiolate),\ninto thin films and conductive textiles. Thin films of NiTTFtt show\nrecord-breaking conductivity for a coordination polymer and unusual\nphysical behavior that sheds light on the transport mechanisms in\nthis glassy metallic material. Textiles coated with NiTTFtt are conductive\nand durable to air, water, washing, acid, base, and mechanical cycles.\nThe properties and processability of NiTTFtt reported here make it\nnotable among coordination polymers and conducting organic materials\nmore broadly.
