Abstract

The\nshuttle effect and sluggish conversion kinetics of lithium\npolysulfides are the main bottlenecks for the widespread application\nof the lithium–sulfur (Li-S) battery. Herein, by incorporating\nthe merits of high electronic conductivity and highly dispersed micrometer-scale\ncobalt phosphide (CoP) with excellent catalytic activity, molybdenum\ndisulfide (MoS2), uniformly dispersed MoS2 nanosheets\non the surface of micrometer-scale cube CoP can be developed, which\nendows CoP@MoS2 the merits of smooth ion/electron transfer\npaths, highly effective catalysis, and maximum catalytic active sites.\nAfter applying as a separator modifier in Li-S battery, the battery\ncan deliver a high initial discharge capacity (1321 mAh g–1 at 0.1 C), high rate capability (837 mAh g–1 at\n2 C), and stable cycling performance (0.101% capacity decay after\n250 cycles at 0.5 C), suggesting great application prospects of the\nmicro–nanostructure catalyst in Li-S batteries.
