Enhancing Security and Privacy in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: A Post-Quantum Revocable Ring Signature Approach

Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) can enhance the safety of autonomous driving systems by sharing sensing data through vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. However, ensuring the privacy, security, and accountability of shared data remains a challenge. This paper proposes a novel lattice-based revocable ring signature (RRS) scheme for secure and privacy-preserving perception sharing in vehicular networks. The proposed scheme leverages the hardness of lattice problems, such as the Module-SIS and Module-LWE problems, to achieve post-quantum security. By incorporating a special revocable tag in the signature generation process, our scheme enables a trusted authority (TA) to revoke the anonymity of a misbehaving CAV and reveal its true identity when necessary. Furthermore, we provide formal security proofs demonstrating the scheme’s anonymity, unforgeability, and revocability under the random oracle model. A thorough performance analysis showcases the efficiency of the proposed scheme compared to existing solutions, demonstrating its practicality in vehicular networks.
