Interpenetrated\nMetal–Organic Framework Glass
Metal–organic framework (MOF) glass having a three-dimensional\ninterpenetrated structure was prepared by a mechanical milling treatment\nof the corresponding interpenetrated crystal structure. Synchrotron\nX-ray analyses, solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and infrared/impedance\nspectroscopies support that the mechanical milling treatment weakened\nthe intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the adjacent networks while\nmaintaining the original coordination bond connectivity found in the\ncrystalline state. The interpenetrated structure in a glassy state\nallows for high molecular dynamics, resulting in a soft bulk glass\nwith lower Young’s modulus and hardness compared to most MOF\nglasses reported.
