Pyrene-Based\nOrganic Photoredox Catalysts for Carbon–Carbon\nBond-Forming Reactions: Reductive Coupling of Aromatic Carbonyl and\nImine Compounds

Metal-free photoredox catalysts built upon a pyrene core\nwere developed\nfor carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions. Among these catalysts,\na pyrene derivative containing a urea moiety effectively facilitated\nthe reductive coupling of aromatic carbonyl and imine compounds under\nblue LED irradiation. This process provided the corresponding vicinal\ndiols and diamines in good yields.
