Die Energie des Incipits. Zur Kategorisierung narrativer Anfange = The Energy of the Incipit. On the Classification of Narrative Beginnings

Text beginnings, particularly those of narrative texts, have always been a source of fascination and a central focus of scholarly inquiry, particularly in recent years. A very fortunate metaphorical descriptive aid in this context is that of energy: the ‘energy of the beginning’ can manifest in different ways, depending on whether the incipit, like a big bang, presents what is being narrated as the principium of the text itself or whether it illustrates and reflects the process of the act of narration. Drawing on examples from narrative texts in German-language literature – specifically Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge (1910) by Rainer Maria Rilke, Der Spaziergang (1917) by Robert Walser and Faserland (1995) by Christian Kracht – the paper aims to shed light on two different types of narrative beginnings, each corresponding to the aforementioned concepts. Gli incipit dei testi letterari, in particolare di quelli narrativi, hanno da sempre rappresentato una grande fonte di fascino nonché un frequente oggetto di studio, soprattutto negli ultimi anni. Una metafora descrittiva particolarmente efficace in tale contesto è quella dell’energia: l’‘energia dell’inizio’ può infatti manifestarsi in modi diversi, a seconda che l’incipit, come un big bang, presenti ciò che viene narrato come il principium del testo stesso o se, invece, illustri e rifletta il processo stesso dell’atto narrativo. Attraverso esempi tratti da testi narrativi della letteratura di lingua tedesca – nello specifico Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge (1910) di Rainer Maria Rilke, Der Spaziergang (1917) di Robert Walser e Faserland (1995) di Christian Kracht – l’articolo si propone di fare luce su due differenti tipi di incipit narrativi, ciascuno corrispondente ai modi di dare avvio al testo precedentemente menzionati.
