AI-Driven\nSimulation of Stochastic Electrochemiluminescence

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is\na vital analytical\ntechnique\nwidely used in immunosensing and emerging applications in biological\nimaging. Traditional ECL simulations rely on finite element methods,\nwhich provide valuable insights into reaction dynamics and spatial\ndistribution of species. However, such methods are limited in mesoscopic\nenvironments where stochastic effects become significant. Here, I\npresent a novel approach using ChatGPT o1 to generate a Python-based\nstochastic simulation for ECL reactions in a nanofluidic channel,\nincorporating diffusion, electrochemical and chemical reactions, and\nphoton emission. The simulation successfully replicates results from\nfinite element models while offering additional insights into time-dependent\nbehaviors and enabling noise analysis for simulated luminescence traces.\nThe iterative development of this simulation using ChatGPT was rapid,\nrequiring minimal coding expertise while leveraging the model’s\n“reasoning” capabilities to implement physical principles,\nverify calculations, and optimize performance. This work demonstrates\nthat large language models (LLMs) can serve as effective co-intelligence\ntools, facilitating the development of complex simulations in electrochemistry.\nAI-driven tools/LLMs have a promising role in advancing electrochemistry\nresearch, though careful validation remains essential to ensure scientific\naccuracy.
