Attitudes towards climate change and energy consumption. Exploring the Greek case within a broader European context
\nIn order to reduce the rate of climate change progression and mitigate future risks, it is imperative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This entails a shift in the model of energy production and consumption, as well as a reduction in energy consumption. Citizens’ attitudes toward climate change and energy are particularly crucial, not only for the acceptance of measures and regulations imposed by national governments or local authorities, but also for the development of relevant bottom-up demands and claims. This paper investigates the attitudes, beliefs and behavior patterns of Greek citizens towards climate change and energy consumption, emphasizing the alignment or divergence with broader European perspectives. It addresses the societal acceptance of climate-related policy measures and the readiness for transformative actions in energy consumption. The study utilizes data from Round 10 of the European Social Survey (2022) regarding attitudes towards climate change and energy use. The analysis of the data reflects a critical recognition of climate issues in Greece, but also highlights disparities in political interest and engagement levels across different societal segments.\n
