Numerical and Experimental\nStudy on the Particle Erosion\nand Gas-Particle Hydrodynamics in a Codirectional Swirling Spouted\nBed

The experimental and simulative methods\nwere used to\nstudy the\nhydrodynamic characteristics of gas–solid two-phase flow and\nparticle erosion in a codirectional swirling spouted bed (CSSB). The\nfour-zone flow of particles was found in the filling zone: separation\nzone, convergence zone, re-separation zone, and particle accumulation\nzone. The internal reinforced structure effectively strengthened the\nradial velocity of particles in the cylinder. In addition, the two\nserious erosion zones on the axial swirl vane were, respectively,\nin the convergence zone and particle accumulation zone, and the erosion\nheights were, respectively, roughly 0.045 m on the A-face and 0.076\nm on the B-face. The erosion heights on the cylinder internal walls\nwere basically 0.15 m with the increase of the inlet velocity. By\ncomparing the axial swirling spouted bed, integrated multinozzle swirling\nspouted bed, and CSSB, it was found that CSSB had a better swirling\neffect and smaller intensity of particle erosion.
