Synthesis of α‑Quaternary Amides via\nCp*Co(III)-Catalyzed Sequential C–H Bond Addition to 1,3-Dienes\nand Isocyanates
The synthesis of sterically congested\namides was accomplished via\nCp*Co(III)-catalyzed sequential C–H bond addition to 1,3-dienes\nfollowed by aminocarbonylation with isocyanates, a coupling partner\nthat had never been utilized in sequential C–H bond addition\nreactions. A variety of C–H bond reactants, internally substituted\ndienes, and aromatic isocyanates provided secondary amide products\nincorporating α-all-carbon quaternary centers. The conversion\nof the amide products to other useful compound classes was also demonstrated.
