Synthesis of Indole-\nand Benzofuran-Based Benzylic\nSulfones by Palladium-Catalyzed Sulfonylation of <i>ortho</i>-Iodoaryl Allenes
A highly\nefficient palladium-catalyzed domino coupling reaction\nof <i>ortho</i>-iodoaryl allene with sodium sulfonates under\nmild conditions is described. This novel method provides a practical\nprotocol to access diverse indole- and benzofuran-containing sulfones\nby simultaneous construction of C(sp2)–C(sp2) bond and a C(sp3)–S bonds in one pot.\nThe salient features of this transformation include simple operations,\nbroad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance.
