Impact of Land Use on Biodiversity in Ratanak Mondol District, Battambang Province, Cambodia
Journal of Agriculture and Technology<br> Soil fauna plays an important role in breaking down organic waste into soil organic matter and soil nutrients. They-also contribute to maintain and improve quality for plant growth and development. Modern farming practices may negatively affect soil fauna biodiversity and density due to the use of chemical pesticide, loss of host plant, and reduced-organic waste or organic matter. This study aimed to access impact of land use on Biodiversity in Ratanak Mondol district, Battambang province, Cambodia. Top soil samples were processed to collect from natural forests, farm of mango, maize, and cassava. Samples were process collect for basic soil data and soil fauna population. All fauna were identified and classified by different phylum, class, and order. As a result, the soil of natural forest and mango farms exhibited higher soil fauna diversity and density compared to the soil of cassava and maize farm. In conclusion, frequent soil disturbance from plowing negatively affects the presence and diversity of soil fauna, likely due to the destruction of their habitat and soil ecosystem.
