Exploring the Impact of Leisure Satisfaction on Happiness of University Freshmen
This research examined the impact of leisure satisfaction on happiness of university freshmen. The study utilized a descriptive research design and survey method, with data collected from 282 first-year students randomly selected from two teacher education institutions in Sagaing Township. The participants completed the "Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS)-Short Form" and the "Subjective Happiness Scale". The results showed that university freshmen reported overall satisfaction with their leisure activities, with relaxation satisfaction being the highest and physiological satisfaction being the lowest. Gender differences were found in educational and physiological satisfaction, with females reporting higher satisfaction in educational activities and males reporting higher satisfaction in physiological activities. The study also explored different types of leisure activities among the participants, with internet use and reading being the most common. Engagement in activities such as talking with friends and playing sports was associated with higher levels of happiness. Correlation analysis revealed positive associations between psychological satisfaction, relaxation satisfaction, physiological satisfaction, aesthetic satisfaction, overall leisure satisfaction, and happiness. The findings suggested the importance of providing diverse leisure activities, promoting social connections, and emphasizing a balanced approach to leisure to enhance the leisure satisfaction and happiness levels of university freshmen.
