Adaptive Active Vibration Damping through Reinforcement Learning-Optimized Metamaterial Composites for High-Precision Semiconductor Lithography
**Abstract:** This paper proposes an adaptive active vibration damping system utilizing reinforcement learning (RL) to dynamically optimize metamaterial composite structures for mitigating micro-vibrations in high-precision semiconductor lithography. Current passive vibration dampening techniques often struggle to address the wide range of frequencies and amplitudes encountered in lithography environments. Our novel approach leverages metamaterial composites with tunable mechanical properties, controlled by embedded piezoelectric actuators, and optimized by a deep Q-network (DQN) trained to minimize residual vibration levels. Simulated and preliminary experimental results demonstrate significant improvement in vibration attenuation compared to conventional passive damping strategies, paving the way for enhanced lithographic resolution and throughput. This technology achieves immediate commercial viability by building on established metamaterial, piezoelectric actuator, and RL techniques, offering a substantial cost-reduction and performance improvement over existing solutions. --- *This document is a part of the Freederia Research Archive.
