Super Information Theory: The Coherence Conservation Law Unifying the Wave Function, Gravity, and Time
Blumberg, Micah (2025). https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.28379318
Author:
Micah Blumberg, The Self Aware Networks InstituteSummary:
Super Information Theory (SIT) proposes a rigorously testable law of nature—the Coherence Conservation Law—that unifies quantum mechanics, gravitation, and the arrow of time within a single informational action principle. SIT is built on two fields: the dimensionless coherence ratio Rcoh(x)R_{\mathrm{coh}}(x)Rcoh(x) and the time-density scalar field ρt(x)\rho_t(x)ρt(x), whose local variations and couplings generate gravitational, electromagnetic, and kinetic phenomena.SIT’s central innovation is the explicit formalization of coherence conservation: coherence is not created or destroyed, but redistributed among complementary observables. This principle provides a unified organizing framework for quantum measurement, gravity, and information flow. The electromagnetic field arises as a holonomy of the quantum coherence field, reframing magnetism as a topological phase property rather than a fundamental force. Quantum measurement becomes a local gauge-fixing of the coherence field, eliminating discontinuous wave-function collapse and many-worlds branching. Instead, classical outcomes and irreversibility emerge naturally from the inaccessibility of measure-zero microstates that would increase global coherence. The time-density field ρt(x)\rho_t(x)ρt(x) acts as a direct source for both gravitational curvature and entropy production, bridging quantum and gravitational domains. Variation of the SIT action recovers Brans–Dicke scalar–tensor gravity, Newtonian gravity with testable Yukawa corrections, and, in kinetic limits, the Boltzmann and Navier–Stokes equations. SIT thus provides a mathematically precise and empirically accessible framework for understanding the emergence of structure and time’s arrow.Micah’s New Law of Thermodynamics is incorporated as a dynamical statement: entropy production and temporal directionality arise from the monotonic decay of global coherence. This unifies the Boltzmann HHH-theorem, gravitational clustering, and—by analogy—predictive coding in neural circuits, under a single information-geometric law. SIT demonstrates that the same coherence–entropy functional governs dynamics in quantum fields and may also apply to biological information processing, suggesting a common informational substrate for physical reality and (speculatively) consciousness.Falsifiable predictions include:Fractional frequency shifts in next-generation atomic clocks, with predictions now quantitatively constrained by state-of-the-art optical clock comparisons.Coherence-induced phase shifts in cold-atom interferometry and Bose–Einstein condensates.Gravitational and cosmological lensing signatures driven by coherence gradientsLaboratory probes of electron-beam deflection and phase holonomy.\emph{Speculative:} Potential implications for neural synchrony and coherence-driven artificial intelligence, discussed in the outlook. This manuscript presents SIT’s action, field equations, and empirical roadmap, accompanied by a conceptual primer and mathematical derivations. By integrating quantum field theory, general relativity, and kinetic theory, SIT offers an experimentally grounded answer to questions of measurement, causality, force unification, and the emergence of time. Interdisciplinary connections—including to neuroscience and computation—are discussed as possible avenues for future exploration. Keywords:
wave function, coherence conservation, quantum measurement, time-density, information geometry, gravity, magnetism, phase holonomy, entropy, decoherence, Brans–Dicke, Boltzmann equation, empirical predictions, (speculative: predictive coding, neural synchrony, consciousness)
