The Muon Time Dilation Experiment : Asymmetry in a Symmetric System

This paper shows how to analyze one of the key evidences of time dilation of the Special Relativity Theory. By a rigorous application of Lorentz Transformation, we show that there is symmetry regarding the half-life of muons, in accordance with the theory of relativity. However, this paper also reveals an asymmetry regarding the events, for a system of two labs moving relative to each other, for example the time muons reach their half-life.

Abstract

This paper shows how to analyze one of the key evidences of time dilation of the Special Relativity Theory. By a rigorous application of Lorentz Transformation, we show that there is symmetry regarding the half-life of muons, in accordance with the theory of relativity. However, this paper also reveals an asymmetry regarding the events, for a system of two labs moving relative to each other, for example the time muons reach their half-life.
