The work with the map constitutes an essential element in the teaching-learning process of school geography. Its insertion in the different programs and curricula in the Cuban educational system has brought controversies, points of view, ideas and conceptions regarding its way of proceeding. The present article has the objective of revealing the different conceptions that have existed on the work with the map in the teaching of Geography in Cuba in the different improvements of the Cuban educational system.
