Hyper-Precision Spatial Light Modulator Beam Steering via Adaptive Optics and Reinforcement Learning
**Abstract:** This paper proposes a novel system for achieving hyper-precision beam steering in Liquid Crystal on Silicon Spatial Light Modulators (LCoS-SLM) by integrating adaptive optics (AO) with reinforcement learning (RL). Traditional LCoS-SLM beam steering suffers from distortions and aberrations, limiting accuracy and resolution. Our approach leverages an AO system to pre-compensate for these distortions, followed by an RL agent trained to optimize the remaining phase modulation profile on the SLM for exceptionally precise and stable beam steering. This framework demonstrates a significant improvement in steering accuracy, proving readily commercializable for applications in advanced microscopy, optical communication, and LiDAR systems. --- *This document is a part of the Freederia Research Archive.
