Efficacy of cryoneurolysis versus intra‑articular steroid in sacroiliac joint pain: A retrospective, case‑control study
This dataset and full-text publication present a comparative clinical study on the efficacy of cryoneurolysis versus intra-articular steroid injections for managing sacroiliac joint pain (SIJP), conducted by physicians from Daradia: The Pain Clinic, Kolkata—India’s premier institute for pain medicine education and research. Published in the Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (IJA, 2023), this retrospective, case-control study involved 83 patients diagnosed with SIJP. Participants received either ultrasound-guided cryoneurolysis or fluoroscopy-guided steroid injections, and were followed up at 1, 3, and 6 months. The key outcome was a ≥50% reduction in Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) scores. 🔬 Key Findings: Both interventions led to significant pain relief. Cryoneurolysis demonstrated superior long-term pain reduction at 1, 3, and 6 months. Greater proportion of patients achieved complete pain relief in the cryoneurolysis group (P < 0.001 at 3 and 6 months). 🔗 Related Training and Technology from Daradia: Learn this technique in Daradia's Ultrasound-Guided Interventional Pain Course ✍️ Authors: Dr. Gautam Das – Director, Daradia Pain Hospital Dr. Sushpa Das, Dr. Rajendra Sahoo, Dr. Sneha Shreyas, Dr. Basabraj Kanthi, Dr. Vikas S Sharma 📄 Citation: Das G, Das S, Sahoo R, Shreyas S, Kanthi B, Sharma VS.
