At the Civilizational Threshold: Diagnosis, Vision, and Pathways for Redefinition

This document presents a three-part exploration of humanity’s position at a civilizational threshold, examining the challenges, visions, and strategies for redefining civilization in the face of a global polycrisis.Part 1 offers a philosophical and empirical diagnosis of the current crisis, identifying interlinked social, ecological, economic, and spiritual disruptions, and analyzing the erosion of truth, authority, and meaning in the so-called “post-truth” era.Part 2 proposes an integrated vision for transformation across key domains — religion and spirituality, governance and authority, economics, culture and society, and human development — emphasizing pluralism, resilience, sustainability, and non-coercion as guiding principles.Part 3 outlines pathways and strategies for implementation and transition, drawing on historical precedents, systems change theory, pilot projects, institutional reform, and narrative transformation. It argues for a combined top-down and bottom-up approach, embedding new values into culture, education, and institutions to overcome resistance and achieve lasting change. This work aims to inspire thoughtful reflection, interdisciplinary dialogue, and practical experimentation toward a more just, resilient, and meaningful civilization.
