Acidic water with phenolic compounds from Brazilian Peppertree (Schinus terebinthifolius)
This study investigates the effectiveness of phenolic compounds from the Brazilian pepper tree (Schinus terebinthifolius) as natural coagulants for treating acidic water with high metal content. The research analyzes sludge toxicity, ionic imbalance, and metal removal efficiency, comparing natural and synthetic coagulants. Findings suggest that the combination of phenolic compounds and sodium bicarbonate aids in precipitation but requires further optimization for pH correction. The study provides sustainable alternatives for water resource management and highlights the need for detailed toxicity assessments before sludge disposal or reuse.
