SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION for "Comparative pathogenomics and in silico overview of energy metabolism of OXA23, OXA66, and OXA852 carbapenemases encoding extensive drug-resistant (XDR) Acinetobacter baumannii Turkish isolates belonging t
This study presents a comprehensive genomic and metabolic analysis of Acinetobacter baumannii isolates, emphasizing their antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, virulence determinants, and metabolic pathways. As A. baumannii remains a critical hospital-acquired pathogen with increasing multidrug resistance (MDR), understanding its genomic and metabolic adaptations is crucial for developing new therapeutic strategies. Our study integrates whole-genome sequencing, comparative pathogenomics, and in silico metabolic reconstruction to elucidate key genetic determinants influencing antibiotic resistance and virulence in Turkish A. baumannii isolates of ST195 and novel sequence type. By exploring the roles of nitrogen and sulfur metabolism, alongside resistance-associated genes, we provide novel insights into the adaptive mechanisms employed by this formidable pathogen. The findings of this study are significant for the scientific community as they:
• Uncover metabolic flexibility and genomic plasticity associated with resistance and virulence.
• Explanation of novel situations impacting antibiotic susceptibility. • Highlight potential therapeutic targets within metabolic and regulatory pathways.
