Oral History interview with Joe Werner and Elsie Werner of ILWU, local 8. Completed on December 14, 1981, and July 15, 1985. This interview is part of the Howard Kimeldorf Oral History Collection by the Labor Archives of Washington, University of Washington Libraries. Laborarchives.org Joe Werner was born in Germany and participated in World War I. After which he traveled abroad and finally ended up in Portland, Oregon where he married his wife. He would later become a member of the ILWU. This item contains two parts: oral history audio file and full text transcription (.pdf).
