Consumers Perception and Attitude Towards Organic Food Choice

In the current scenario, population amplification and increase in life expectancies have raised the demand for food supply globally. To meet this demand for food products, agricultural sector has been revolutionized with the intrusion of mechanization, scientific production methods, weather predictions, usage of chemical fertilisers and pesticides to increase the yield of the crops in a shorter period. Over usage of natural resources, extensive and irrational use of toxic pesticides and fertilisers for cultivating more and more food products has damaged the ecological balance and has put the consumers’ as well as farmers’ health in hazard. Thus, the necessity for food safety on one hand and environmental sustainability on the other hand, has made it necessary to resort to the alternative farming method. Considering this itself the researcher has conducted a study to know about Consumers Perception and Attitude towards Organic food choice for which a study on 5 villages of Satara Taluka only was conducted.
