Advancing Energy Management Through Smart Monitoring and Digitalized Power Distribution Systems

The stability of power technology and distribution structures is threatened by the integration of widely varying distributed generation (e.g., solar panels, wind power, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems). The basic cause, though, might be an imbalance in the ratio of electrical supply to demand. When energy is produced or consumed, too much or too little electricity can cause systemic disruptions and major problems like voltage drops or increases and, in the worst situations, power outages. While lowering peak load during unforeseen times, energy management systems can effectively improve supply and demand balance. Under all power grid operating conditions, the energy management system is capable of efficiently supplying loads and distributing or exchanging energy among the numerous energy supplies that are available in a stable, secure, and efficient manner. Through a thorough analysis of the numerous stakeholders and participants in the energy control system, this article looks at the system's objectives, structure, advantages, and difficulties. The functioning of various programs used within the power management system, including demand response, demand management, and energy quality management, is thoroughly examined in this review. Along with identifying research gaps, difficulties, and problems, it also provides an overview of the smart grid's features, functionalities, and associated methodologies. Additionally, the authors of this paper examine the literature on smart grid enabling technologies and look at the energy management system, one of the key new technologies and quantifications of the different uncertainty methodologies. The thorough evaluation of researchers' work and contributions to the smart grid's smart energy management system was also covered by the authors of this paper. Additionally, it compares and assesses the primary optimization techniques used to meet a range of restrictions and accomplish the impressive goals of energy management structures. The new researchers will greatly benefit from this thorough review, which will also greatly advance the field of research.
