Development and Assessment of Anti-Epileptic DrugLoaded Pharmaceutical Filaments for 3D Printing
AbstractThis study examines a new 3D printed Lamotrigine oral drug delivery system made with hotmelt extrusion (HME) and fused deposition modeling (FDM). Polylactic Acid (PLA) was used asa biocompatible, printable carrier, and triethyl citrate (TEC) acted as a plasticizer to enhancefilament flexibility and processability. Drug-loaded filaments were produced with a Wellzoomhot melt extruder and printed into dosage forms using FDM. Thermal, mechanical, andmorphological analyses assessed the filament's stability and performance. The findings show that3D printed Lamotrigine filaments could be useful for personalized medicine.
