Cultural Considerations for Chinese New Zealanders in Psychological Interventions
Chinese in Aotearoa New Zealand face significant barriers to accessing mentalhealth services, which is partly because of the current lack of culturallyresponsive care. Incorporating concepts such as Confucian values, the notion of‘face’ and the cultural emphasis on education in therapeutic practices may helpto improve outcomes for this diverse population. By aligning with Chinesecultural perspectives, clinicians can foster a more supportive and effectivetherapeutic environment.
