Optimization of Public Transportation Systems: Analyze and Propose Improvements to the Efficiency and Reliability of Public Transportation in Urban Areas, Potentially Incorporating Intelligent Traffic Management Systems.
Urban centers globally are experiencing unprecedented growth, which has led to increased demand for efficient mobility. This paper examines the critical role of public transportation in urban areas, the challenges it faces, and the urgent need for optimization. It explores how traffic congestion acts as a bottleneck, affecting route design, schedules, reliability, and information availability. Furthermore, it analyzes current optimization techniques and the potential of integrating Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS) to enhance urban public transportation. The paper concludes by offering recommendations for improving public transportation efficiency, reliability, and overall urban livability.
