Exploring Themes of Fear and Insecurity in Isaac Asimov's Short Stories "Robbie", "Robot Dreams", and "The Bicentennial Man"
The study undertakes an examination of the themes of fear and insecurity in humans in the short stories of American science fiction author Isaac Asimov: Robbie (1940), Robot Dreams (1986), and The Bicentennial Man (1976). It uses the data collected from texts of the selected short stories. The study employs a qualitative descriptive research method and the textual analysis tool to identify and examine feelings of fear and insecurity experienced by humans in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Through a meticulous analysis of the themes found in the selected narratives, the research reveals that humans exhibit signs of fear and insecurity in response to the growing capabilities of artificial intelligent machines that go beyond human control and comprehension, reflecting the complexities of the contemporary times.
