Prasat Non Ku: An Ancient Khmer Hindu Sanctuary
Prasat Non Ku, located in Khok Kok Village, Sung Noen District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, is a significant ancient Khmer sanctuary constructed during the 11th–12th centuries CE (16th–17th Buddhist centuries). Built as a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the site features a central sanctuary, two libraries, and an enclosing wall with gopura (Gateway Towers), all adorned with intricate Khmer-style carvings. The architecture reflects Hindu cosmology and the spiritual power of the deity through the symbolic presence of the linga. Restored by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand, Prasat Non Ku stands today as both a cultural heritage site and an important center for archaeological and historical study in Northeastern Thailand.
