ACCEPTANCE OF VIRTUAL REALITY AND THE IMPACT ON LEARNING ATTITUDES AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN SERI ISKANDAR, PERAK, MALAYSIA

Virtual Reality (VR) is a powerful tool that is able to change human daily routine as this computer-generated environment creates an artificially stimulation sense that makes users feel the immersive surroundings as real world. VR enables university students to experience an interactive learning process, save time on repetition errors, and enrich students’ communication skills. This technology has gained significant attention, especially in the Malaysian education sector, and popularity in recent years because VR provides users with a realistic and interactive experience. The conventional way of learning is boring, and university students need more motivation and excitement to value-added their current knowledge. The study objectives are to recognize VR acceptance and use among university students and its implications for learning attitudes. The study applied the non-probability convenience sampling method, where a questionnaire was distributed to a group of 300 university students in Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. The study reveals that VR hedonic motivation with Pearson correlation r =.772 is the most influencing among all variables tested that leads towards virtual reality acceptance and use among university students. This result indicated that students are accepting VR as a new learning method. The findings support VR development in the education sector as an alternative way of learning, and this learning method enables students to engage with subjects in previously impossible ways, allowing them to explore complex concepts, scientific phenomena and much more through simulated environments.
