Comparative Analysis of Growth and Yield of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) in Response to Different Organic Fertilizers

Organic food produced by the application of organic fertilizers is of paramount importance for human health. The study was designed and conducted at Gomal University, D. I. Khan, Pakistan.to assess the effects of organic fertilizers on growth and yield of coriander (Coriandrum sativum). The experiment was conducted in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) involving three biological replicates. Organic fertilizers manure and compost were applied to all plots except control. Data were recorded on various parameters like days to germination, number of leaves branch-1, and length of branches, leaf area and chlorophyll content. The statistical analysis of the data showed that organic fertilizer significantly affected all the studied attributes. Results showed that the least days taken by the plant to germination (13) was recorded for the plot where manure was applied. The highest number of leaves branch-1 (8.31), highest length of branches (14.66 cm), and highest leaf area (9.3 cm2) was recorded in plants received manure. Total chlorophyll content varied among all samples. Manure sample plants had higher chlorophyll content (12.49) while control group plants had lower chlorophyll content (9.75) and the compost sample plants had the lowest chlorophyll content 93.04). It was concluded that manure fertilizer performed the best from the compost fertilizer and hence recommended for the growers.
