2025 ACSS Workshop: Boosting Research Visibility with Persistent Identifiers and Open Metadata

This workshop explores the pivotal role of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs)—particularly Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)—in increasing the visibility and discoverability of research outputs. By examining the impact of DOIs, research data management, the FAIR principles, and open research practices, the session empowers researchers to extend the reach of their work and monitor its impact within the academic community. Participants will learn how to integrate PIDs and open metadata into their research infrastructure to promote open science and support long-term sustainability, aligning with UNESCO's Recommendation on Open Science. Mohamad Mostafa and Nada Chaya delivered this workshop in person during the 7th Conference of the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS), held in Beirut, Lebanon, from 15–18 May 2025.
